The devolved government for Scotland has a range of responsibilities which include: health, education, justice, rural affairs, housing and the environment. Some powers are reserved to the UK government and include: immigration, the constitution, foreign policy and defence.

The Parliament exists to define, debate, decide and legislate on issues of importance to the people of Scotland. In doing so, it holds the Scottish Government to account and is answerable to the people of Scotland.

Holyrood magazine

Holyrood magazine is Scotland’s fortnightly political and current affairs magazine that keeps Scotland’s key movers and shakers informed with its award-winning and thought-provoking editorial.

According to the most recent Ipsos MORI readership poll, Holyrood is the most popular print title amongst MSPs with 79% or four out of five reading it regularly ahead of The Herald and Scotland on Sunday with 73% and 67% respectively. This is highest readership figure for Holyrood since the Scottish Parliament was established and 42 per cent ahead of its nearest magazine rival, The New Statesman.
